Chelsea Wallace Adams: Wow, I'm so glad this exists. She says something about how if the principal hadn't validated that moment for her -- hadn't backed her up against the bully -- that she doesn't know how long it would have taken for her to realize that she has power over negative people and bullies. This struck a chord with me because that was me. I spent the vast majority of my middle school and junior high years at the mercy of several bullies, and teachers, principals, and guidance counselors all turned their backs on me. They didn't want to see it, because to admit that bullying was happening in this expensive, private, Catholic school would have been a disgrace. To acknowledge that their students were so cruel that other students (i.e. me) were suicidal would be bad, somehow. It took me several years (luckily, my high school and college were exponentially more accepting and loving, and I gained a lot from those places) to understand my full strength and realize that people don't have power over me. I struggled for years with severe social anxiety, and I still struggle with it, though I've grown enough that it's manageable now. I hope every child has this sort of experience that Danai speaks of -- that when they go to an adult for help, they are protected while also being shown that they are strong.
Estefania Zamora: From my understanding she is going to play Afeni Shakur and Wow they choose the right woman , So strong since the beginning someone so strong who stood up to bullies
Can't wait to see you back in the walking dead and in the Tupac movie
Kellie O'Mealia: You rock Danai!! I met you on the cruise and you were kind enough to autograph a pic for my daughter and speak to me about empowering our young women and I told her this conversation we had. It made her believe in herself even more to know that "Michonne" cared about not only her but all young ladies! She stands a little bit taller because of your words!! Love u even more. Stay strong girls!!!
Sue Press: Her interviews have been just amazing. We need more strong women to teach young girls that is not okay to be bullied, controlled or struck. I don't have any stats but I would think that many women in abusive situations were the victims of that fate when they younger. Women need to be empowered to be strong and assured of themselves. And any man who victimized a woman, whether it be physical or psychological is nothing more than a coward. Kudos to Danai for her series to show women and girls, that is NOT okay for any man to behave in this manner. It is NOT okay for anyone to be behave this way against another. We need to be respectful of each other. This bad behavior cannot be considered love in way, shape, or form. Women need to help and encourage each other during these situations. Some women just feel they have no where to go, and no hope. But where there is life, there is always hope.
Joe Serrano: Her character on The Walking Dead is absolutely tied for my favorite (Darryl of course is the other)! Mostly because of the way she is able to convey quiet strength on screen. The confidence that comes through is not just something she throws on when the cameras are rolling. It's something that she has, that becomes so evident on screen! She is a wonderful actress, and I am excited to follow her career!
Alheli Morales Vazquez Well: I beat the crap out of my Bully and it worked like a charm haha, love Danai, hope she makes a change with her hair next season cause I really like it short....MichonneTeam
La Monica Adams: I was bullied at home as well as at school from grade 4 to grade 7 (home until 11th grade) and I was taught to keep silent. In 8th grade the dorkiest girl who I had been friends with decided she wanted to fight me so rather than be afraid I broke her nose with 1 punch. I Was never bullied in school again! I wish I could say the same for home, but once I discovered that my parent could actually kill me & I was ready to die rather than continue getting beaten so I figured I didn't have anything to lose so at 15 I fought back and that was the last time my parent hit me! I wish that I had the courage and strength that Danai had as a kid.
Ralph Encinias: Thank God! I'm so sick of hearing stories of women from the third world getting blown up or having acid thrown on them or being gang raped and then them all rising above it... blah blah blag... I want to hear about the girl in the west who got hit by a bully and went to the principal and had it all resolved in a day.... Now that is inspirational!!!
ps Good thing boys never get bullied.
Hazel Estremera: Hi, michonne i miss you cant wait for the next season, hope youre still alive coz youre one of my favourite actress coz youre amazing and so much admirable. From philippines.
Juliette Etua; A talented actress! A wonderful playwright! She has a gentle strength about her! And the fact that a person in an authoritative position saw that the issue was taken care of instead of brushing it off is a wonderful message as well. And I hope that bully sees who she has become! Danai Gurira rocks!
